Curious if I can put a 72 W30 grill on a 71 Supreme ?

Forget my text. I believe the actual assemblies are identical in size - the style is not identical. Others can validate.

In hopes this might provide "some" additional value until others can confirm/validate...

 

It’s been discusses many times over the years, and from what I recall there is a significant difference in how the grilles mount between 71 and 72. Maybe it can be done, but will it look correct, or look like a hack job?

 

Kenneth - Thanks for that. I think you may be correct. I think there was some significant difference between 71 & 72 but as I suggested, I hope others can confirm/validate.

 

Thanks Ken, i thought I have seen threads but when I searched, I didn’t find them. Maybe my search was incorrect. Anyway, I saw a very reasonable deal for a set of aftermarket 72 grills, and being that the price was right, thought perhaps it was worth considering. I don’t like doing anything half-$ssed, so I guess I will pass.

 

The fitment issue is trying to install 72 Cutlass/Cutlass Supreme grills on a 71. The 72 radiator support has a bump to accommodate the outside edges on the 72 grills The 71 grills will fit a 72, and the 71/72 442 grills are the same shape as the 71 so they will fit either radiator support also.
