70 Front window posts

The car I'm restoring has rust through on the square metal pieces that go from the cowl to the roof on the sides of the window. It looks like a 1 inch square tube. Does anyone have a source for this part? or will I have to find a donor? The main areas of rust through on the body are around the front window and cowl and around the rear window.

Thanks,

Ben

Welcome to the site Ben! It sounds like your talking about the post shown below, correct? I don't think it's being reproduced so the options are to repair what you have or find a sold used part to replace it with. It's common for the windshield channel in the dash to rust through on these cars. The Chevelle repop piece will have the same shaped channel if you just need a couple inches wide. More than that will need to be fabricated or again cut out a piece from a parts car. Please post pictures so we can see what your working with. I know Eric (jensenracing77) has parts cars and he's in Indiana. There's several members on this site with parts cars so if you want used panels/parts you can probably find them by creating a parts wanted thread. John

Smile Sorry for the late reply

John,

Thanks for the reply, I had deployed to Afghanistan when you replied. I got back a couple of months ago and have moved my 70 w-30 up to my house in Ohio to start prepping the car for restoration. The area you are pointing to is the area that is rusted out. I was able to get a donor fwd section with just a couple of spots around the windshield that needs repair. I have attached some pics of what I'm working with.

I have started cleaning out the car after 31 years of sitting in a back yard under a cover. It looks like it will also need a front to rear floor pan. I'm not a paint and body guy. Does anybody have any shops they could recommend for media blasting and welding the new sheet metal in near Cleveland Ohio?

Thanks,

Ben

If you need any more body sections or metal,I am about an hour away.
As far as blasting goes, there is a place not too far from you, that does soda-blasting and other metal cleaning for car bodies.I will try & find their info.

Thanks

Thanks for the information. I will be looking for a 442 trunk lid, possibly a right rear fender, backseat - seat and back, w-30 hood.

Brian,

Do you have any package trays for a 70 and the channel that goes around the trunk for the weather seal?
