69 442 Bumpers

Not having much luck finding a place to rechrome my bumpers that are in decent shape.
Looking at new from Fusick or Year One
Anybody have a suggestion or comment on the aftermarket quality that is available?

Thanks

I've yet to see an aftermarket bumper I would put on my car. My recommendation is to keep trying to find someone to do yours.
Not sure where you are located, did you try Paul's in Evans City, PA?

I just dropped my 69 back bumper with TriCity Plating. I strongly recommend them. A proper replate will cost about twice as much as a repro bumper. There's a reason for that.

I saw the repros at Fusick when they first came out and the gauge of the steel was a little thinner but they looked better than the original ones I had re-chromed at Sandy's in Syracuse, NY

Fusick is around $700 each shipped and that seems to be about the best price

Right now at Year One they have the pair at 1100 and 189 shipping.
https://www.yearone.com/Product/1964...***-442/b3469s
I can get the rubber bumpers and rear bezals and ss bolt kits and be under 1800 with shipping.
The 2 way shipping is the hard part and the comments I've read about some of these places are not so good.
My front is in pretty good shape, the back inside corners are losing chrome and I have one slight dent.
Its a toss up, but thought if the new ones were ok, Id go that way and know they were new.

Ogden Chrome in Utah will re-plate your originals. You won't be disappointed.

Theres are coming from Texas.
Thinner really doesn't bother me as long as they are triple plating it.
Sandy's is within driving distance for me though.
As a business owner I really respect the google reviews and when they clock a solid 5 that means something to me.
Did you have failing or peeling chrome?

Sadly its the freight that leaves a bitter taste these days, and thats if they arrive there and back still in good shape.

I got my rear bumper from The Parts Place and was pleasantly surprised. It was a lot nicer than I expected.

I was told they are all made by the same place. I believe that are graded so you may get a better bumper from a place where you pay a little more for it.

Yup, they showed up today.
Sure as hell, Taiwanese made.
Hoping for the best at this point.
The car will be protected and never wet, hoping that preserves the finish for my lifetime at least.

When I got mine in 2020 the tips looked like friggin' Shrek ears.... If you have a Lous Custom Exhaust up your way I highly recommend them. I told them I wanted a 2.5" welded stainless system with the tips as shown and they absolutely nailed it. Went with Flowmasters and the sound and tone is perfect for what I wanted.

This is how it came out and hasn't moved since. All welded hangers, no clamps and no chassis contact anywhere.

Tri-City Plating in Tennessee.

I had pair done for my 68 years ago and they picked up at Spring swap meet at Carlisle PA and returned shipped to me. But that was 10+ years ago and had then $1k for both for rechroming.

Check their website for their travel show schedule. They might be closer to you than PA.

Good luck.

I see its already been mentioned, but I went through Parts Place Amazon store. Got the Parts Place price, but with Prime it saved me a ton on shipping. Not sure how long it'll last based on the horror stories, but I reached out to a few places about getting mine replated and they said with the rust spot it wasn't going to turn out well. Kinda thought that was odd, but I don't know enough (or honestly care enough) to argue with them.

Props for giving your trust to vocational students on this car, looks great.
Involved with the New Bedford Vocational marine program hosting students at my shop.
Have a customer/friend that is a body instructor at Upper Cape, but they only take project cars from residents, otherwise mine would go there.
