68 owners with W/O mouldings

Im working on a 68 442 for a friend that was purchased with quarter panels partially installed, now that that the car is almost ready for paint I tried to fit the rear wheel opening chrome and they don't seem to fit these 1/4 panels very well, they seem to hang off both the front and the rear of the 1/4 way too much, Is there anyone out there that could possibly get me pictures of a car with the rear mouldings installed? A couple nice close pics of how they fit at the bottom of the mldg, maybe I can trim these to look like the original fit.

Thanks

My 68 didnt have the wheel well moldings but I have seen some that the chrome goes along the bottom of the car too. Maybe you have the moldings that connect to that so that is why they have the extra play? Just a random thought.

My car is in storage so I can't get any pics but I used Goodmark panels and the wheel well opening moulding fit fine. Are you sure you have the correct trim mated to the right opening? Each one of those mouldings is specific to an opening. Not one of them are the same.

Here's the passengerside rear quarter on a 1968. Let me know if you need to see any other views. John

2blu442 those are excellent, exactly what I need. Allyolds68, they are def. different than the fronts and we tried them on both sides and they just don't fit good at all, they are both original pieces so I expected them to be pretty decent. The part that confuses me is in front of the wheel, it follows the 1/4 contour and then hangs below the rocker, not much wiggle room because of the contour . I can see it possibly happening in the rear but in the front, I'm puzzled.

OK, does the shape of the trim look like this?

If so, then the only thing I can think of is that you've got the trim/wheel wells mixed up. Especially if the shape of the body lines match up, just the length is wrong. Here's a few shots trying to capture where the dip is so you can get the length below the body line. They're pretty close, but not exact measurements. Can you match them with what you've got?

Here's the passengerside rear

Try swapping the right front with the left rear and the left front with the right rear.

Looks like we wont have too much of a problem, originally the owner was holding them up while I stood back and watched and thats when they looked waaay wrong but now that i've tried them I think we will be ok, the lip on the 1/4 panel isn't as 'square' as the factory opening and it seems to hold them a bit lower but I can fix that problem. Having those pictures helped a ton, thanks again.

Just a note of advice - all 4 openings are specific to the applied wheel opening RF / LF / RR / LR - the curve of the fenders and the quarters are
different as well as the the length of mouldings on each end from top center to fit the opening as designed.
