Problems with the new engine

Hi All The car was running great,300 miles on it,Thursday I went for a ride then it started running like crap,I pulled over called a buddy It had a skip a bad one
So I had it towed to the garage did a compression test pass side front 0 ,
They took of the cover off the valve spring was broke, called Carolina engine they sent spring w/new break in oil, they fixed the spring now it's better 45 psi
Not good my guy thinks the valve is burnt or bent, have to wait till Monday to see what we do from here my guy don't want to do anything else unless they Carolina engine want him to do it ,So I'm bummed out, it was running so good, what do you guys think of this crap,
Steve

they used good parts ... you probably have a bent valve now and an eyebrow on that piston. at 300 miles it's not burnt. the heads need to come off and get redone right with good quality parts. if you just do the one you are playing with fire.

new doesn't mean they were any good is all I meant there. I am kind of suspect of the quality of the parts here but it is hard to say without knowing what you have used. who made the stuff ? could have been something wrong in the set up but you probably would have noticed so .. did they give you the parts list for the build , I am guessing you bought a complete engine ?

I'd give the builder a call and see what they say. It's misfortunate that you have issues.

Sorry to hear about the damage.
Valve is almost certainly bent.

Last time something similar happened to me, the piston actually got damaged also. The oil ring land over the pin broke off, oil ring retainer wiggled out and destroyed the bore. These were normal cast replacement pistons.

So be on the lookout of additional hidden damage.

that's Joe at carolina machine engines right? he'll take care of any issues i'm sure, any idea of the issue? hope it's nothing serious

FYI, they did not put the proper oil galley plug with the oil hole in it for the distributor when they built my engine, they put a solid plug in there... i had to replace it with the proper one with the .040 hole in it.
