Valve covers
Valve covers
I have a set Micky Thompson valve covers that need breathers and grommets, does anyone know where I can get them? The grommets are D shaped and ide prefer aluminum breathers. Summit didn't have much to choose from.
Thanks

I am sure manufacturing sources vary, and so do the products....
The last time I bought a generic pcv grommet I ended up throwing it away and buying a GM unit. I was under the ASSUMPTION that new is better. Turns out, maybe not so.
The aftermarket one was made with rubber way too hard, almost impossible to get into the factory valve cover. When it was installed, the hole was too small to put the PCV valve into. NO amount of pushing, twisting, swearing, lubing, etc. was going to make it work. With the grommet out of the rocker cover, the pcv could BARELY be forced into the grommet.
And this was on a FACTORY valve cover with a known consistent size and shape D-hole. Part of the problem was that the space the generic grommet allowed for the rocker cover was too small, so that, when installed, the rocket cover pinched the inside hole smaller- too small to use.
The factory grommet?
correct softness
fit the factory D hole perfectly
accepted the pcv elegantly and easily, just like it should.
How much is aggravation worth to you?
Go ahead and buy the handy one, but test fit it to a pcv before scratching your rocket covers all up installing it. Measure the cavity in the grommet and compare to the mating features where the cover is to contact the grommet. Proceed with caution. Maybe another brand fits and works OK.
