Air pocket in head casting?

Just happened to notice what looks like an air pocket in the intake runner of my head, as I was getting ready to torque them down. Putting the motor back together. At first I thought maybe a stud hole was drilled too far but it does not line up with the stud. Anyone seen anything like this and is it a problem or fixable? I wondered if there was water on the other side of the hole. Gonna have my machinist take a look at it monday.

casting issue

Don't know whats on the topside can't see, but to me it looks like the bottom of a tapped thread hole. You may be right its just an air pocket in the casting.

Looks like it could be from the rocker stud but really can't tell from the pix.

If it is then just use some Loc-Tite Thread Locker. If not have your machinist take a look at it. Good luck.

looks like a rocker bolt hole too deep to me. Probe with a wire and see where it goes.

Since there would be a bolt or stud in that hole during operation, no big deal.

I stuck a wire in it and it's about 1/4 in deep. I probed around a little the sides of it to see if i could push the wire through like to a water jacket but it didnt go any deeper. I'll snap another pic and post it and see what the machinist thinks. I wanted to torque these heads on this weekend.

Machinist said the casting was a little shallow near the stud. Studs are sealed. He said put it together and dont worry about it. It wont affect anything. Now back to the garage. thanks guys.

No the studs aren't sealed.
I've experienced vacuum leaks past them more than once
Spend 5 bucks and buy some thread sealant (not locker, my bad). You'll be glad you did.
