Starting my 455 rebuild

ok I have a couple of questions for you experts. Now please keep in mind that I love cars and tinker with engines but when it comes to the guts I'm retarded. There is an engine shop here in town that will long block my 455 for 2 grand. Does that seem reasonable? Also I am looking for more of a daily driver that will still get up and go. So what should a get done? Upgrades? Cam? Pistons? I am keeping the E heads and my stock manifolds. I would like to keep the intake and possibly the quadrajet but suggestions are welcome. Keep in mind all parts are originall to 69 442 convertible but the block. Its a later model Fa. Thanks guys. Let the spending begin.

I just built one for my 1972 Convertible...

I used KB 277 pistons (cast)
Engle 20-22 cam
"E" heads
Edelbrock performer intake
Edelbrock performer carburetor 750 cfm

**If you wanted something different you could change up the cam a bit**

It runs really well and has plenty of power for a cruiser...

Awsome

What a beautiful car first off. Both of them. I had to watch all of your videos. Thanks man this is just the type of info I am looking for....small changes. If I wanted more of a lope what would be a good cam without messing things up. I will have many more questions for you as i move further along. How much did your set up cost if you don't mind me asking. Also on a side note do you fly the apache?

Thank you! The convertible shortblock cost around $2000 to build, then add the cam and incidentals. I already had good heads, intake, carb, ignition, etc. so you can't really base the cost off of what I spent. It all depends on what you have already and what shape it is in. My stuff was waiting in the wind for this day so to speak.

If you wanted more of a lope I would pm Mark (Cutlassefi) and he could grind you a cam that would meet your needs.

I do fly the Apache both the A and D model (Longbow)
