Buick 455 questions

Gentlemen,

Just bought a 70 Cutlass S with a Buick 455 engine. I obviously, want to replace it with an Olds 455. I will be pulling it soon, cleaning it up and selling it. It runs and seems to be in pretty good shape.

I'm not familiar at all with Buicks. I know the Skylark was the Cutlass' brother, or cousin. The GS was the same for the 442. I know what to look for on an Olds 455 to verify if it's the real deal. I have no clue when it comes to Buicks.

I don't want to make a killing when I sell it. I don't want to give it away either. What should I be looking for? Any help would be appreciated. here's a few pics. I'll take more tomorrow.

Personally, I'd keep it in there if it runs well.

Ayyup. The low-comp 2bbl 350 I had in my '71 Skylark was surprisingly peppy, even with 130,000 miles and burning a quart of oil per tank of gas. I'd imagine the 455 is more so.

That's an option. IMO a vintage Oldsmobile deserves a Rocket engine. I would think someone out there is restoring a Skylark or Riviera and thinks those cars deserve a Buick engine.

Would bring a decent amount as a running core, BBBs are really thinning out. One guy near me is trying to sell 2 of these, one a running motor and one a non-running core, both for $1200, a few others are selling non-running cores for between $400-$600. So maybe call it 8 or 9? Wish i could help more, ive been expanding my knowledge to Buick recently but still havent gotten much yet. I have no idea why someone would go to the trouble of swapping a Buick into a Cutlass when the 455 Olds swaps so ridiculously easy with the Olds 350, but at any rate, good luck with your swap!

By the way, if it helps at all you might check out V8Buick.com, im sure they could steer you in the right direction on what to do with your motor

Looks like Buick moved the location of the code around quite a bit.

I had a 455 that a friend of my son need money and sold it to me cheap. I put it for sale, like $350,and I had so may calls on it, I'm sure I could have gotten lot more. Lot more calls then when I try to sell a Olds motor. Guess there hard to find, it also was not a running motor either.
