I have read all these different options on different types of oils for different applications. I thought most oils were very similiar except for the diference in weights. My question is what oil lubes the best for all the internal parts of the engine on my bone stock 455 .30 over also I have a 99 silverado (5.3 vortec) that has a little tap in the morning that last for about 10-15 seconds and I can tell that the oils had not circulated yet to the top end so what is the best oil and filter overall for stock applications. Also what purpose does the oil filter serve. I thought it hold all the dirt in the filter and not let it fun through the engine and what happens to cheap filter when the get old do they break down or something.
