I am looking at a bunch of aftermarket aluminum intakes for my 400 and i would really like to run my original carb on an aftermarket (aluminum) intake. the problem i am having is finding one with the choke stove that will work for my OEM carb. i have been looking at numerous intakes (Edelbrock, Weiand, offenhauser, etc) and all of there products need an aftermarket carb or the OEM carb to be converted to electric or manual choke. Do any of you know a good aftermarket aluminum intake that is a good stock replacement with all of the factory provisions? thanks.

 

Unfortunately, no one makes an aftermarket intake that accommodates the divorced choke.

 

Thanks Joe, i was afraid of that looks like i will just run a performer with a edelbrock carb that i have laying around.

 

Or if you really like the quadrajet you've got, can you install an electric choke on it? I've not put one on an older carb, but have seen electric choke kits for the quadrajet. Anybody know for sure? John

 

Come to think of it - the later electric choke should fit if the housing hasn't changed -
although i haven't done a conversion, I've rebuilt both, and can't remember an outstanding difference.
