1973 olds 455

i was going to ditch the valley pan and go with the 4 piece intake seals,,my question is,,the ones i see dont have the exhaust crossover port,,,is this true or is the pics just wrong....

Your eyes do not decieve you. The 4pc gasket sets are made for racing purposes and that cross-over is not needed. The cross-over is for cold weather driving. If you don't drive in the cold then you dont need it. I have always used the valley pan (also keeps hot oil off the bottom of the intake) with good luck.

If you don't plug the crossover and still use the composition gaskets with the crossover port blanked off, it won't be for long. The exhaust heat will burn through in short order.

Of course, inquiring minds want to know why you don't want to use the stock gasket.

I was just checking out my options,,,,i used the valley pan and it didnt seal so i had to remove the intake,,,,I have rtv,,,and gasket sealer and a new valley pan i will be putting on tonite..

ok,,,,intake assembled onto engine again,,plenty of ultra black rtv used around water ports and gasket sealant used on everything else,,,,,hope it seals this time,,,

You could just make an 'X' with a razor knife over the holes to promote the burning through, if you're in a cold weather state.

if this does not work i will try that...the first time rtv wasnt used
