455 Engine Weight

Does anyone know how much does the 455 weighs? I am looking at engine stands from Harbor Freight Tools and wondering if a 750lb stand would work or 1000lbs stand?

Thanks.

I don't know the weight but I had one on a 750lb type stand and it was scary. For the extra money I got the foldable 2000lb type at Harbor Freight. Better to be safe, especially if your going to move it around which I think is not recommended anyway.

i bought both the 750 and the 1000 at harbor freight i had the 350 on the 750 and the 455 on the 1000 it kinda shocked me when i got the thousand home it look exactly the same as the 750 i didnt have any problems but they are pretty bouncy with a complete motor. if ya weld a couple of braces on it will quit im sure. cant beat the price. more money for the motor!!!

I bought the 1000 lb. stand from Harbor Freight too. Invest in some Grade 8 Bolts to mount the engine and consider a little bracing to beef up the frame. I added some square u-bolts and clamps where the cross member attaches to the frame. I can post a pic if it helps. It's held together fine for over a year.

At the minimum buy the 1000 lb stand as it is a four wheel stand. The 750 lb stand is a three wheel stand and is prone to tipping over, very unsafe. For just 99 bucks you can step up to the 2000 lb stand which has the best base for stability, that would be my choice if I ever buy another stand. I have the 1000 lb stand and its ok

Thanks for all your feedback. I think I will go with the $99 / 2 ton engine stand. At least it folds compared to the other one's.

Since I will be heading down to harbor freight tools, is their any special tools you think I may need? I have the basic tools, wrenches, sockets, breaker bar, etc.

Thinking about stands myself lately. Found this monster on the net.
Have to upgrade my 3 legger before I put anything more than a bare block on it.

Okay I got the engine stand from harbor freight tools and got it all setup ready to go. I just realized I dont have long enough bolts to mount the stand to the block so does anyone know what size and grade bolts I need?
This is the engine stand I got from Harbor Freight:
