Just got my heads back from the machine shop. I wanted new guides and seats freshened up but they got the wires crossed and put all 16 hardened seats in. They said it was necessary because the old seats were sunken, throwing the stem heights out of spec. Not pleased with that but whats done is done. SO...in some spots the new seats are proud of the old casting and have a pronounced lip. Can I hit this with an die grinder and knock this edge off? Or are you not to touch the hardened ring? Hard to photograph

Anyone with a good Serdi or Newen seat machine can even those out, and even take some of the face off the seat as well.
You need to take him to another shop anyway to have them done right, so……

That one port looks like somebody has been hacking on it in the past. That makes it a lot harder to get the underside of the seat to blend in. You can take metal off but cant put it back. At least not easily.
Blending the top should be pretty easy but under the seat might not get much better.
