Just tore down my 455 and was curious to see what cam the previous owner had in there. It is an Engle Mondello cam - has JM 2022 Hyd stamped on the end and was a good running cam. A bit more exhaust rumble than my liking though. I'm curious how this compares to the stock non W-30 70 442 AT with AC cam? Is there a more accurate stock cam available? I am not looking for more power, looking for more quite and tame.
Just get a stock automatic 442 or w30 automatic 1970 cam..they are one and the same. And yes tamer than the cam you have. Somebody will post cam specs on both for comparison. Thats a great cam for your car, bummer you don’t like that bit of rumble. I think I would just change the muffler to a quieter muffler, not the cam..
Here ya go, I think the one I hilited is correct for stock 1970 442..if not someone will correct it. Duration @.50 wasn’t a thing back in 1970..Possibly the smaller 285/287 cam was the stock 442 automatic cam?
