1967 400 gasket set
I agree. However, the head gasket is thicker than stock at .040" vs. .017" for the original steel shim. If you don't resurface the heads and/or blcok, you will have lower compression than it had originally. About the thinnest gasket available for a low price is the Corteco 55661 at .028" but I doubt it is still available since ROL took over the company some years ago.

Believe it or not, I spoke to the second owner of my car who rebuilt it 1980-1982. It has not been touched since then. How do I know, first he reversed the heads so the head with the engine number is on the drivers side, not intentionally. Still that way today but does not guarantee it has not been touched. Second, he also rebuilt it with two head gaskets on each bank in order to reduce the CR. High octane gas was not readily available he stated. Still has double head gaskets today, 38-40 years later ! Unbelievable !
I intend to use the Fel Pro set and if they are .040" thick that should actually be a CR increase over what it is today. We'll see how it goes.
Thanks to everyone for your input. You guys are a great resource!
