425 Question

Hello

Where is the code for a 1967 425 BB that would tell me what the HP is? I know they made 4 engines two with 2B and two with 4B carbs? Would the code be able to tell this?

Would there be any issues putting the 425 into say a 70-72 cutlass?

Thanks for any info

It would be the same as putting a 455 in the car. I don't think there are any indicators externally to really determine which HP version the engine is. The heads, intake, etc... may have been changed over the years.

In the 1967 model year, there were FIVE different versions of the 425 offered, two with 2bbl and three with 4bbl. 1967 was the first year to use the paper tape on the oil fill tube with the two letter code that indicated which engine it was. Few of those have survived half a century. The fundamental differences were compression ratio, valve size, and cam specs.
