425 Seems to be lacking power
Right, well i've replaced the intake for an Edelbrock Performer, plopped a 750 Edelbrock/Carter carb on top and hooked everything up as it should be.
Starts, runs and sounds great, so took it for a spin and i have to be honest, it's not quite what i was expecting. Firstly the transmission didn't want o come out of 1st gear and the power with full throttle applied wasn't as tyre screeching as I had hoped. It seems to be all noise and little action.
The gearbox however did seem to start working after a few stamps of the throttle but the power just seems to be the same as it always was??
This may be due to me being used to my other car which is a nippy 318i BMW coupe, but i'm sure it was just as beefy before i made the mods.
Edelbrock claim that their performance parts work straight from the box without the need for tuning!?
is this true?

Check WOT(wide open throttle), see if all four open fully...did you originally have a 2bbl? If so, you may need to make more adjustment/modification with the throttle(rod)? Or could be bottoming out before WOT...that's where I would start!

yeah it was a 2g rochester. I needed to make the throttle linkage up as it was too short, perhaps this is the problem
