Engine/machine shop in Minnesota

I'm beginning the search for a good engine or machine shop in Minnesota to build the original 68 400 engine for my 442. I'm looking at a close to stock rebuild. The shop I used for several engines & heads years ago is long gone. I'd like to find a shop that other Olds owners have had good luck with in the Minneapolis to central MN area. Thanks! Don

Knowlton Thunderhead out of East Bethel does good work or Line Performance out of Wright, MN which is also Pro Stock driver Jason Line's brother. Both do good work.

I have heard good things about the Thunderheads shop out of East Bethel. I plan on bringing my block and heads there when I shore up enough funds.

They ported my heads. Travis the owner was very good to work with. When I picked up the heads you could just tell that the shop was very clean and professional. Line Performance did all the short block work two years prior to the heads and again very good guy and shop. When I did the heads I pulled motor to inspect and noticed zero issues with bearings and other wear from Line Performance, he also did great work.

Thanks for the good tips guys - I've heard of Thunderhead but Line is a new one to me. I've also come across Headquarters Machine in Crystal and Torvinen's Machine in Menahga as options if anyone has experience with either of them.

Any luck?

Hey, I'm looking to build my 455 this spring and was wondering if you had your machine work done.

I haven't done my engine yet, but did visit and get a quote from Headquarters Machine in New Hope 3 weeks ago. They're a nice shop that does mostly vintage projects - they had/have several on hand many years (decades) older than my '68.
