Would this 455 engine be a good start for a 69 cutlass 350 swap?

I found a 1970 engine locally and was wanting to see if any of you guys could shed some light on what I might be looking at here, I read that the E heads werent the best but were ok for performance engines and that the block is date coded 1970 even though the seller stated it was pulled from a 1968 Ninety Eight. I was thinking about pulling my rocket 350 out of my 1969 cutlass convertible and installing a BB, one issue is that I now have a standard saginaw 3 speed and I read somewhere that the crank had to be notched or something for a standard tranny. Anyhow I posted some info and pics for anyone to share any info they might have on this engine and any pointers you might have as well regarding the swap. Thanks!

Ad reads....Ran great when pulled from 1968 Olds 98 with 70K miles about 10 years ago. Been stored indoors and covered. Complete with transmission and all accessories as shown TH400. E heads. Engine block casting 396021F. Engine code 30X139869

The numbers are for a 68-72 455 block The E heads. Would be correct for 68-70 .
it would be a good swap and yes the crankshaft has to be bored out for a pilot bearing if you are going stick shift.
hope the motor is a reasonable price make sure it turns before buying.
Good luck

Looks rather complete...agree good starting point; but, as mentioned check to see if it turns freely. As a two barrel it should be from an 88 not a 98 and be lower compression 9.0:1? which may be an advantage at the pump.

Good luck!!!
