Valve Cover Breathers

Checking to see what guys have done with the valve cover breathers. I still have the stock D grommits with a breather on one side and P valve on the other. In looking around i see guys have put on breathers others. Looking to change this up cheap.

Nothing fancy but getting a little oil seeping out around them. The grommits are old and i see i can buy them at Fusick's for money.

Sounds like the grommets have become brittle and have shrunk with age. Replace them and you should be fine. Stock parts work great if new and engine is in decent shape.

Yes, HELP and airtex make repros also. I did have to modify the airtex one, as it was a bit too big in the groove...

The round one is available at the auto parts store, I have not seen a D shaped one except thru any of the aftermarket places, yearone, opg, etc...

I bought the D shaped grommet just over a week ago at a local auto parts store....it was either "HELP" brand or possibly "Needa" brand. Seems like it's a pretty tight fit to get the breather in but that's probably a good thing.

I'll post the brand later when I find the receipt.

Unfortunately the materials on a lot of the gromets is garbage, the oil/crankcase gasses turn them into jello. Like so many things new they won't last nearly as long as the originals.

When inserting the filter or PCVV, put some vaseline or soapy water on the hole to make them easier to insert...
