Valve cover breather and grommet for 425 Toronado engine

I have a 425 Toronado in my '66 442. I am trying to find the breather and the valve cover grommet to fit it, for the 425's valve cover. The grommet I got from Supercars for my 400 engine valve cover does not fit the 425 breather.
Any ideas?

Also I am just starting to think about putting a Gear Vendors overdrive in my car. It has the M-21 and either 3:55 or 3:90's. Any one out there with experience with this idea. Also the clutch that was supposedly stock for my car is juddering so I need to check the flywheel facing
I know but while I am at it I want to put a good clutch in the car. Any recomendations here. I don't drag it and I don't drop the clutch at lights. I want a good heavy duty clutch which will let the car start off smoothly.

Thanks

Pat, I've got some Toro 425 core engines. Are you OK with used parts? Are you talking about a tube to the air cleaner, or just a breather that plugs into the grommet and isn't connected to anything?

Please specify the trouble

Except for the oddball 1968-only 5/8 grommet, the typical Olds PCV grommet and 63/64" ID breather grommet should work for you.

I have seen aftermarket grommets that are a poor match to the factory valve covers. The solution to that is easy- value your time and sanity and purchase genuine GM parts.

a search of feepay turns up no results for genuine GM grommets. Maybe Les Flaisher had 'em?

Get the real GM version of:

I looked at some 1966 Toro valve covers and agree with Octaina. They have the same D shaped hole that later ones have.

John

I am going to do a little more work on the parts I have. I probably have made the wrong assumption.

Thanks - I'll get back to you if I can make what I have work.

I am looking forward to seeing your '67 when you get it done.

Thanks Octania. Supercars has both those grommets.

If you want to fight with aftermarket parts, go ahead.
Maybe SCU parts are made in a different part of China and fit right.

The ones I got were like HELP or maybe Dorman brand at the local store. Recess where the rocker cover metal is to reside was not properly made, therefore the 1" hole was too small and the breather would not go in.

Similar fitment on the PCV grommet, plus the rubber was 3x as hard as it is supposed to be, and NO WAY was a std PCV valve going in there. Replaced grommet with GM part, which went right in, and voila the breather and PCV valve installed with no difficulty.

Please write a review when you install, let folks know if they fit right [or, not]

If you want to have parts fit exactly right the first time, get the NOS GM part.
Even a -USED- GM part unless brittle and cracked is better.

Octania

That's exactly the experience I am having trying to fit mine. Will take your advice and let you know.

Thanks

I just installed the PVC grommet in the 64 F-85 Pro-Touring build. I'm sure the 67 400E and the 425"s share the same D-shaped grommet. I used Mr. Sunshine to warm the piece and sprayed with silicone lube starting at the circle part and working up. Towards the top I used a thick flat bladed screw driver and carefully pushed it in. I also put tape around the hole in the valve cover in case of a slip-no scratches.
