Vacuum advance canister.

Okay, so I found mine is not working and has failed. I bought a new canister that is adjustable. I am not a distributor guy, and I need instructions on how to replace it. It looked simple,(and probably is), however I removed the cap and rotor (HEI), removed the mounting screws, and their is no play to remove the rod to the advance unit. It is underneath.
So what is the easiest way to replace this? I just stopped waiting for your advice. Thanks

Just push the rod out of the hole in the advance plate with a screwdriver or something and pull the advance unit out.

Thanks Eric. I ended up having to place the screwdriver underneath and twisting it to release it as the rod bottomed out the other way. Anyways, all fixed!
