Torque specs and sequence for valve covers 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass 455

Can anyone throw some thoughts on the specs and sequence for valve cover bolts on 1970 Olds with 455? Also, I glued the cork gaskets with some 3M weatherstripping adhesive around covers, but no sealant to the head's surface. Is this okay or do I need to add sealant? Thanks.

Don't put any sealant on the head side. Torque is 7#s, I just snug and go another 1/4 - 1/2 turn. Start in center and work your way out alternating from bottom to top.

Ok. I see ft/pounds and in/pounds wrenches. Which torque wrench should I pick? Thanks again.
