Timing pointer from 425 on a 455 and misc.

I've recently built a 455 from and used the pulleys from the 455. However, the timing indicator is from the 425. Will this be accurate?

The engine has a cam that has an approximate duration of 300 and .500 lift. What is a good timing curve for this engine? (10:1 compression, 750 vacuum secondaries, and an HEI with adjustable advance).

I'm guessing that base timing will be 10 to 12 degrees advanced to start with.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note... it was nice to start this thing and hear it run. The Flowtech (Holley) Red Hot packs sound great! I have a video on my iPhone but can't get it to download on our site. It's a beautiful sound when there's no smoking, ticking, hammering or other strange noises after a rebuild....

Thanks,
Chris

No, you need a 455 pointer. Repro houses carry them. 12 deg initial is good, 36 deg. total, best if all is in by 3000-3500 in most applications.
