Trying to time my 67 cutlass right now what mark on the tab do I need to get the number too at idle. Is it 36 or 26? And any help or steps how to do it would be awesome it's a 67 cutlass 425
There were never 425's in a Cutlass. What distributor is on it? If its still points, then 5*btdc @ 850 rpm for a 2v, 7.5 @ 850 rpm for a 4v both set with vac adv disconnected.
That's the dis. And what mark on the tab do I want to hit my car is running really rich so do I need to turn counter clockwise or clockwise to lean it out a bit?
What type of timing light are you using? Since your using an HEI that didn't come with your engine, stock timing specs are n/a. You want to set it at the very end of the timing tab, that will be about 14*BTDC at curb idle (650-750rpm). That will put you roughly around 34/35 total.
The timing light I have is just the cheap one from harbor freight it has the dial on the back of it and I have that turned to zero and the end of the tab are u talking about the bottom or top based off the first picture?
