swapping brackets from sbo to bbo

i was told that i could use all my brackets and pulleys from my 70 350 on the 68 455 that i have . does anyone know this to be true

Since I just watched Blazing Saddles recently, "It's twue, it's twue".

Of course, there's a "but". You must use the brackets, pulleys, and matching length water pump as a set. There are three different length Olds pumps, and the pulley offsets are different to match. If you also take the pump off the 350, you'll be fine.

Where brackets either bolt only to the head or only to the block, there is no difference due to the BBO's taller deck height. Where the bracket spans from the head to the block (one example is the non-A/C alternator bracket top piece) then there are two sets of holes to accommodate both deck heights. The alternator bracket I noted has two holes where the small strut that goes to the water pump bolts to the "Y" shaped upper bracket. The hole closest to the alternator is for the SBO, the other for the BBO.
