selling a 1968 auto w-30 engine
selling a 1968 auto w-30 engine
I finally have some pictures of the engine I will be selling. Several people have expressed some interest.
Here is what I was told not substantiated but by the original owner. 1968 442 w-30 automatic engine. Engine was pulled and put in the garage in 1970 when the car became a race car. It had less than 20,000 miles. The engine was freshened whatever that means so here is more stuff I don't really know. Has original pistons and cam with new rings and bearings and gaskets. Heads were not resurfaced. I would not put this into my car without full inspection because gaskets are cheap compared to installing and uninstalling the engine. I posted some pictures and you can tell me what you think about the numbers. I already know the long head bolts are in the wrong place but I didn't do it. Let me know what you think. I will probably list it on ebay for a starting bid of $4,000. I already know there are two crazy fools on ebay with heads at $7000 and 5800 but they both still have them and probably will keep them at that price. I have other pictures of more of the numbers if you need to see more.
Thanks Lee

If you have a hurst olds or 1968 or 1969 w-30 and you dont have the correct heads you want these. The 1970 w-30 used "F" heads and 1971 "H". I think the H are the hardest to find because there were not many cars sold.

I hope this guy didn't buy your engine just to part it out! If you got the money you needed for it thats the bottom line... but I would hope the person who bought it put it in a car. I'd have loved to have it for my 1969 W30 but just don't have the finances to purchase something like that right now.

The person that bought the engine has 30 collectable oldsmobiles and didn't even blink at the price. I am guessing it is going into one of his cars. So he makes me look pretty small time with my three cars. He did say he doesn't have any w-30 convt 4 speeds and I have a couple of cars that would fit nicely into his collection.

Good. When I saw this ebay ad for D heads he talked about having the complete engine, and that he was going to be posting auctions of more parts soon. Since you recently sold yours I thought this might be the same motor. John
