running too lean????

I replaced my plugs about a month ago and the old plugs were a little tan in colour.....I decided to take a look at the new ones tonight to see how they looked after i got the timing where the car runs great after I did the intake gaskets!!!

So this is how they look now..... Looks lean to me....could the timing be too far btdc cause the lean condition???

do you have lean symptoms?
other than that, they look like they have no miles on them.

Roger, those plugs look just the way they are supposed to. The reason your old ones had a tan look is they probably had been in there for over 20,000 miles. A clean burning engine will do that and is completely NORMAL I'd be concerned if they were oil fouled, but they aren't. If your car is running too lean, you'll notice that when you punch the gas - it won't have any giddyup power

No worries Roger. Always safe to ask. I understand completely since this car is new to you. Glad to hear you like to 'work' it once in a while . You don't need to worry about those plugs for at least 20K miles (not km) unless it starts running different.

Plug look great! Hope they all look like that. If its running okay, then you have a healthy engine. Glistening white would be from a lean condition.

Here are Lady's from 7500 miles - not bad either and she runs great. I'm happy!

Rob - I'd say you could re-use those for another 50k - especially if the gap hasn't changed!
