A lot of people.say to say that ford Rocker arms work on an Olds, can you use the self aligning type rockers? or is it best to just use the quite plates?

I would go with the guide plates. I went with a ford rocker and no issues. Prw stainless roller rockers. 1.6 ratio

Scorpion Ford Windsor 1.72 ratio on my 350, 3/8" screw in studs and guide plates. Scorpion makes pedestal rockers for Olds also, probably work fine with low spring pressure.
