Review on the 455 rebuild and a question on a torque converter
Just thought i would drop in and say what my rebuild was, how I like it and also to say thanks for all the advice from everyone along the way.
1970 455 block .030 over, kb silv-o-lite 1631 pistons, stock rods and valve terrain. Stock crank .010 under. Heads are C's that were gone through, all stock except for air bumps removed. Erson tq40 cam, torker intake. Gm hei distributor and rochester carb. Dual exhaust manifolds with 2-1/4 duals going through thrush chamber mufflers was how the motor ended up.
I started with cast iron intake and pertronix, and switched to torker and hei just to see if there was any difference, I had the parts and the time thanks to great weather I was able to play with the car until Thanksgiving.
There isn't really a seat of the pants difference between the torker and hei over the cast iron and pertronix imho.
I do have a faint tick on each side and I think it is rocker am getting the baffles in the stock valve covers. The car runs smoothly and has tons of torque and pulls like a freight train. I have roughly 700 miles on it since the build. Fuel mileage hasn't been the best, but I don't exactly keep my foot out of it. The kickdown cable was a casualty at motor install so that isn't attached.
I'm looking to get a decent converter to put in when I have the trans gone through, I use the car as a driver, city/highway, mostly just to shows and dinner on Saturday nights, trans is just a th350 and I'm running a 26.6" tall 12" wide rear tire. Final gear is going to either be 3:23 or 3:42. Does anyone have suggestions on a good daily driver converter?

I have that converter. Works great for street duty. Drives real nice, very little slippage. I recently purchased a 9.5 inch freak show 3000 stall cause I originally was being a little conservative on converter. That being said still great converter for street.
