Removing my Qjet's choke assembly

I live in Yuma, AZ where chokes are never needed, our winters don't even go below 30 and most of our cold nights are in the 40's. Simply put, chokes are not needed here and the "hot air" choke on my Qjet isn't ever being used, the choke stove tube isn't even there. I read several times on other boards that in my case it's perfectly fine to remove the hot air choke housing on the right of the carb, and to plug the hole to prevent vacuum leaks. I was also told for my application that removing the secondary "pull off" is perfectly fine.

But what about the primary "pull off"? Can this be removed as well and the ports plugged? This is not a strip vehicle. It's a 57 year old 13,000 Army truck powered by a 455 Oldsmobile and it gets 4MPG on a good day.

Never mind, it appears I have answered my own question again. I played with it this evening and got what I was looking for. I just removed the bimetallic spring from the choke housing, put the cover back on and since my truck has a choke cable already on it I just tied the end of the wire onto one of the choke linkage pieces. Whalla! I got rid of the automatic choke but now have a manual choke in case I ever need it someday. Because nothing was changed aside from removing the choke coil I still have the nifty secondary lock out lever which keeps the secondaries from opening until the engine has warmed up, or in this case until the choke is disengaged. Nothing else was changed at all. The primary pull of is important as it acts as a timed release to keep the transition from primaries to secondaries smooth.
