Quadrajet Rebuild Upgrades
Quadrajet Rebuild Upgrades
Ok guys I have swapped a 462 BBO into the 66 and I want to make sure the original quadrajet will supply enough fuel for it. I opened up the carb and here is what I found.
Carb 17057253
It has CV rods(bigger ones coming through top)
49K rods inside
74 jets.
Here is the engine/drivetrain
Bored .040 rebuilt stock heads with big valves
Comp Cam-110 lobe separation, 106 centerline, dur at .050 230in/230ext, valve lift .49in/.49ext, lobe lift .306in/.306ex
Performer intake
Hooker super comp headers
700r4 with 2800 stall
3.90 posi.
Any help would be great so I can order what I need
Thanks

CV secondary rods are probably a good start. K primary rods are for low emissions. They are very lean with a big step, rich only at WOT. J rods are also the short type for your later Qjet but are not emissions type--they have a smooth taper from high vacuum to low vacuum (WOT). The 17- beginning of the part number tells us your Qjet is a later one. There are a couple good Qjet books you should get, one by Doug Roe (H.P. Books) and the other by Cliff Ruggles.
Yes it's from the 76 Olds 350 as in the car. I have the cliff book to review but seeing what people have used in these later smog carbs to make them work on a performance engine. Trying to avoid buying more jets/rods than I need.
