quadrajet id..need help
I've been to several Carb number sites but can't find my Carb. Its on a 1966 toronado. The numbers are 7037350, I know the 703 is for 60's with a.I.r. 7 is for 1967 the next one the 3 is the digit that is stumping me the websites say 3 in that position means 1 brl car and this ia a quadrahetThe numerals are on a stamped Disc on the back I can't post picture from my phone

A picture would help clarify the situation, but it seems you are reading the casting ID number, and not the carburetor part number.
If the carburetor number isn't stamped vertically along the smooth edge on the left side, like this:

then there should be a crimped-on round tag with the number, like this:

The cast-in number isn't it.

great photos above showing the two possible app # locations.
my database of casting numbers says your 7037350 body is typically found on 1969 carbs, so look again for a STAMPED number, left side, rear corner.
PS you say the numbers you found are in a "stamped" disk on the back of the body... but those casting ID's are RAISED characters formed during the casting process. To keep things in order, let's use the term "STAMPED" to refer to DEPRESSED or concave or female characters as made by stamping in the figures with hammer, hydraulic or impact tool, etc. For example:
STAMPED ID's:
VIN on block and trans
Application number on carb
Application number on fuel pump
application numbers on the OD or the distributor
Application numbers and ratings of alternators
Application codes and often PN's on Pulleys
CAST-in ID's
block casting numbers
heads' casting ID's
Water pump casting number, date, etc.
Intake casting ID, date, "FIRING ORDER..." etc.

You are correct I was looking at a casting mark I will try o clean it up Monday and see if there are numbers I missed. Thanks for all the responses on the 1966 toronado is the correct carb a quadrajet 4MV?
The number was (at some point) stamped into that vertical "wing" on the side of the secondary like MDchanic's first pic.
I've heard of some rebuilders grinding off the numbers. Not sure why they'd do that.

a factory service bowl would have nothing stamped in it as far as numbers go. the mechanic was supposed to stamp the number into it. so, if you really want to know what it is, you'll have to open it up and see how it's configured. or, you could just assume that it's right for the application. since the application is a '66 toro, and '66 carbs. were known as "patty melts" because of the crappy design of the fuel shut-off valve, i think service bowl is the most logical explanation. the "patty melt" name was given due to the look of the carb. after the "toilet valve" flooded the carb. and caused it to melt down as it burned.

thanks for the input everyone. I will just assume it is the correct carb as far as ordering a rebuild kit..I am a little concerned with the "patty Melt" story..anything I can do to avoid an incident like that? I would like to keep it original but, I am not opposed to a change for saftey
