Pistons

What is the best way to clean carbon off of pistons??
I know it will take some time anything to make it easier!!

brake cleaner and a soft bristled wire bursh or scotch brite pad. You can also buy a can of parts cleaner and let the pistons soak to soften up the carbon build up.

Roger,

Rob and some other guys have had VERY good results by using OVEN CLEANER! Of all things Rob swears by it.

I LIKE IT !!!!!!!!!!!! If it's good for stubborn grease like the stove at our house was when we first moved it it's gotta work on pistons.

DO NOT scrub them with anything but a plastic bristle brush. Let the oven cleaner do it's job.

X3 on the oven cleaner. Get the real, toxic stuff, not the environmentally friendly stuff. Think about it - oven cleaner is designed to get baked-on carbon off the inside of your oven. Works great on the baked-on carbon on the tops of your pistons.
