Piston/compression ID help

Piston/compression ID help

Hello all

I have a 455 & would like to know if anyone can " best guess " what the compression ratio would be with these pistons, all stock motor, Ka heads
block casting looks to be after 72 , starts with L 3 E. any help would be appreciated

You proble know ka are big valve heads and those look like low compression pistons to me I been told my 72 block with the same set up is Luke 8.5:1
Maybe some one with more better info can clarify for the both of us

Ah, the optional "soup bowl" pistons.

CR will be, well, low. Add the FelPro blue head gaskets and you'll be lucky to be close to 8.5. Good candidate for a supercharger.

Those don't look like big valve heads to me, they look like 2.00 intakes.

Did they make ka heads with the small valves ? I thought they were w30 replacement and industrial use the big valve ?

X2. The big valves nearly touch. That's a 2.000 intake.

KA heads were used on marine and industrial motors in the 1970s. Just because the factory lists them as performance head replacements doesn't mean they all came with big valves. Not a lot of "performance" going on in the mid-1970s, unfortunately.
