Oldsmobile 455

Is it possible to build out an Olds 455 to 600hp on pump premium fuel? No juice, (nos) naturally aspirated?

Lol. Good question. I'll tell you not unless you're willing to spend a load of cash. Plus it will be vulnerable to dying.

would a turbo be a good option? Has anyone had any experience using the TorqueStorm supercharger on a Olds 455? They sell a direct bolt on single or dual.

Turbos and supercharger don't work well with stock block. Need a Rocket Racing block.

I disagree, as long as you stay below 650 or so and use good parts.
I’ve done two 455 based builds (480ci and a 495ci) that made upwards of 600hp. It can be done, but again if you want it to last you have to use good parts etc. throughout.

I've not used one, but I have done some investigating...

They don't include an intercooler. At lower boost levels, they aren't as critical, but hot intake temps are never a good thing so adding an intercooler would be nice.
7# boost on a mild (450hp) engine should get you close to 600hp. Whether or not you're happy with a blown big block that makes "only" 600hp is your decision.
They are self oiled, which is convenient.
If you need to have the engine rebuilt to begin with, by the time you rebuild it and then buy the Torqstorm kit, you could have built a nasty N/A big block that would make great power.
If you're capable of doing a cheap rebuild yourself, and keep boost and RPM reasonable, it should live a long life and be a blast on the street.
Takes more knowledge to tune a boosted engine.
$5,500 for a supercharge, power steering pump, alt, and A/C compressor isn't too shabby...

Or just put in SBC with a supercharger. https://madmax442.com

The 383 made 460 hp before the supercharger, so figure 30-50% gain. I est. 600hp now, prob 500 something at the wheels.

Just getting started with the Anti-LS stuff!

I have some friend with some REALLY fast LS powered cars, they always ask when I’m joining the “dark side”.

I reply with one of these. Unfortunately, I don’t get to use them all that much here.

Is this kind of what you're looking for? Not sure of the horsepower but sure looks like fun.

Mark my 507 at the track the last couple weekends of the year ran 6.85 at 103 in a 1/8 mile and there I'd a ton more in it!

I thought you were doing an Olds build? Yeah, some of us just aren't thrilled about the LS. I thought they were overated in trucks, dead below 3500 rpm. Why would I want that in my Olds?

That MPH indicates the potential for low 10s so far. What are you running for trans and converter?

Correct, I wouldn't want to pull an empty trailer with my worktruck and it's 4.8. An Express 3500 SRW 10' boxvan that's heavy all the time and sometimes we add 2 or 3 complete garage doors. (it pulls good @ 5,000 rpm and higher)
I hear the owners of empty half ton trucks like their 4.8's !
