Got a new melling oil pump and pick up,the pick up should press into the oil pump but it only goes in about a quarter inch if that. Shouldn't it go in more and then get tack welded or brazed permanently in place?

is it a bolt on pick up? I don't remember ever having a pickup that had more than 1/4" of the tube in the pump...got pictures?

 

Thanks for the reply 64,it's not the bolt on type it's the press on type but the pick up barley goes into the pump. It will def need to be brazed onto the pump. I just want to know if this is normal?
