Oil pressure sensor light on.

Hi there,
just after some clarification please as the oil pressure light is on.
On start up as per usual goes away but when I switch off and re start it stays on even when driving.

I have followed advice in forums.
Tested wire by disconnecting and earthing, light comes on.
Cleaned connection.
Still comes on.
Hooked up a mechanical oil pressure gauge which reads 60-64 PSI at idle.

Is this pressure suitable.
I found on Google someone else was 64 PSI.

I just want to confirm.

Thank you.

Pressure sounds excellent, probably a bad sending unit.

64 PSI at idle? That must be cold, I hope. What weight oil are you running? I've blown one of these sensors in extreme cold resulting in extraordinarily high psi..

Leave the mechanical gauge hooked up, get the engine up to operating temp. Then see what the idle pressure is.

If its still acceptable, put a sending unit on the car.

Yes, pretty much all the people and occasions you mentioned. Even when I had that horrible ding in the rear fender used for an end of year formal.
