Question Oil pressure sending port location?

Bought some gauges for the Vista, I have the electrical and water temp sending unit down, but where is the best place to tap for the oil pressure sender?

I'm not a fan of the little plastic oil pressure line through the fire wall design, this is an electric sender. Don't worry I'm going to make sure it registers the proper pressure.

Thanks.

Doesn't it have the oil pressure sender on the ledge behind the water pump? On my 350 I went to the hardware store and got some brass fittings and tee'd off that so I could keep the electric oil pressure sender too. It's nice to have a back-up idiot light just in case, not everybody monitors the gauge every few seconds and when you do forget and the engine does a death dance from no or low oil pressure who's the idiot?
I used a mechanical gauge though, you use a copper line instead of the nylon line BTW, you can find the copper line kits with the compression fittings at most parts stores. I ran it through vacuum hose so it would look good and not be able to rub on anything and be damaged and the hose also prevents kinks.

Just my two cent woof.

There's only one port on an Olds motor, the 1/8" NPT port next to the oil fill tube. Use a tee fitting to run both an idiot light and the gauge, since once the newness wears off you won't be watching the gauge all the time. A bright red light gets your attention.

Yeah it's an ugly connection IMHO, but it works

Thought I had a pic of my connection on here, I can't seem to find it, but it would pretty much be the same for ALL Olds engines 64-90

So this port is down along side the engine block? Sounds REAL easy to get to (sarcasm enhanced).

Also what about the port on the front of the engine, forward of the temperature sender in the intake manifold?

Look between the water pump and the intake manifold. Do you see the part number cast into the block there? Now look to the right of the area with the part #. The sender for the idiot light is likely screwed in the oil port located there.

Ok, cool. I will do the brass tee to have a warning light in there just in case. However, I'm pretty rigid about checking gauges on a regular basis due to being a former civil pilot.
