offenhauser dual port

I found an old aluminum intake in my parts shed, Its an offenhauser 360 degree dual port. It looks like a bit of a high rise and is a dual plane intake. The ports are separated so the primaries feed one port and the secondaries feed the other port. Are these good intakes? Would this be a better intake than my edelbrock performer?? Its an interesting looking design for sure. Thanks for any info on the performance of these!

I put one of those on a 302 Ford about 30 years ago. We went from a 2bbl to that intake with a 600 Holley 4bbl. I remember it not making much of a difference.
Good idea but I think you lose too much area in the runners. Might work well on a 4v Cleveland or similar. Otherwise I think the benefits are marginal.

Common sense says that if it was a good intake design, all the other manufacturers would have copied it in one form or another.

It sure is an unusual design. I won't bother trying it, thanks for the info!

I had one on a 455 maybe 15 years ago and it actually worked well with that heavy car. Biggest issue I had was getting it to seal but that may have been due to age and use- I know it had been on 3 different engines before I bought it.

I felt it was a little limited on top end breathing but keep in mind I was also using a small (600 cfm) vacuum secondary Holley thru mildly worked big-valve C's and stock W-Z manifolds. I wasn't particularly interested in *****-out performance with that car. I wanted something that could get a 4500 lb tank moving quickly and the combination worked well for that- it surprised more than a few Mustangs who lined up against it.
