need some engine learnin'

Have a 67 cutalss with a BB. I've been through the header threads but our problem is that the full length headers hang too low. Shorty headers I just don't really see the point.

So my first question is does anybody have a part number for a 3/4 length header for a BB? I'm looking for some that look like this: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/1955-1...ted,36775.html

Ok, next question, are BBC and BBO anywhere close enough to use BBC headers? I can find all kinds of BB headers for a chevelle. I'm thinking the answer is no but I have no idea right now. I'm guess Olds are a different animal.

Thanks.

No a BBC and BBO are not even close. There are not many offerings in the shorty header size. I don't think there are any differences in the flanges from SBO to BBO and port sizes I believe are pretty close also.

I know the Hookers sit very low, but I've heard that the Heddmans pull up closer.

Yeah, I figured. I was curious about the SBO to BBO comparison. Even so I only see and LS to A body 3/4 length. Man, that would be perfect but I'm sure that wouldn't work.

So does anybody know of a mid-length header for this application? Headman tells me they don't have any for this.

If they're hanging low, check your motor mounts - notorious for getting 'oil impregnated' and turning to jello, squishing down badly!

I understand the ARH long tube headers fit very well. I have a set but I'm not to that point in my build to show any pics. My understanding is they hang no lower than the oil/transmission pan.
There is a thread on ROP about a transmission mount for a 66 and I believe that shows the headers. Unfortunately ROP is down for some reason

We did think o fthe motor mounts. They look fine but I got new ones anyway. We're going to put them in soon and may be pleasantly surprised.

With Sanderson all I saw were shorties. Do they make a mid-length?

Never heard of ARH. I'll check into that. If they fit that tight that would be fine.....until I find out they are $800....
