These are rebuildable pumps. Make sure any rebuilt you get has upgraded materials to handle modern crap gasoline, otherwise you'll be replacing it again in a couple hundred miles. Alcohol fuels eat those old paper gaskets and diaphrams up quickly.

If you decide to go electric, you should be able to mount and wire an electric pump somewhere under the tail of the car. No need to go exotic; any pump capable of 20-40 gph and 4-7 psi should work as a pusher pump. For safety, you should probably wire it in thru the oil pressure switch, and there are numerous GM oil pressure switch applications that will work with a small electric fuel pump.

paid about $60.00 for a electric fuel pump for mine @O"Reilly's parts house a little wire, and a toggle switch. there was already a place on the frame in front of passenger side rear wheel to mount it , used a tap to thread the holes to mount the pump and spliced an inline filter between the pump and fuel tank. Works great!!

Hey Guys, I need help, I been restoring a 63 Olds super 88, but I enounteed a probem...I put a new fuel pump from Kanter, it works good when the engine is cold, pushing between 6-7 psi but when the engine warms up it goes down to 3 1/2 psi and while driving the engine spotters in second gear like asking for more gas...any suggestions? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Angelo

check your fuel filter, if your pump has a glass bowl there should be a filter in it, also on my 63 someone put an in line filter on it kept on clogging up. Had to clean the tank
good luck

I am just grabbing at straws here but check the gas cap. Is it supposed to be vented. Just try taking the gas cap off when it warms up and see if that helps. It is just a guess that doesn't cost anything to try.

I dont know, but I still think that something is not right because if the pressure while cold is good between 6-7psi, why does it drop to 3 1/2 psi when is hot? weird...I was thinking about putting an electric pump, what do you recommend?
