Intake Manifold Gasket?

I am going to install an edelbrock intake on my 72 455. Question is should I use a valley pan gasket or 4 piece set? I have read opinions on both but it seems to me that the Olds engineers had to have a reason for the turkey tray, what changes that? I agree with eliminating the rail ends and using RTV but just cant decide what is the best way for the head mating surface. Thanks in advance for any suggestions and opinions.

I just did my intake manifold and I listened to both sides. In the end I went with the turkey tray because I used the same logic as you - Olds must have done this for a reason. I also used the rail ends because I went with the same above logic.

This was the largest project I have ever done. I completed it lastnight and everything looks good thus far.

Good Luck!

Based on some advice on this forum I just bought this one with the turkey tray, my mechanic advised me to use it as well.
