Intake Manifold Carb Mount Hole Stripped
Has anyone ever run across one of the carb mounting holes that appear to be stripped as the nut will not tighten on the stud fully. Of course the stud is the one where the throttle linkage bolts down so I have a potential leak and my linkage is not tight. I'm assuming a helicoil install but have never done one before. Any advice?

Helicoils are very easy to install. Buy a complete kit that includes the drill bit, tap, helicoils and tool. You won't need to pull the manifold but use some sort or a bit stop so you don't drill too deep. Use some blue thread lock.

Dream on Joe. What guy in his right mind would use a lifting plate on a intake with bad threads. I have been using a lifting plate for 15 years and never had a problem. I would say it is a isolated problem. JMHO

Maybe i shouldn't have said dream on. Joe how do you know your bolts for your lifting chain isn't cracked? How do you know the threads in the hole for the bolts to hook up the lifting chain are not stripped?Isn't that all about checking.

I would try running a bottoming tap in the hole, you never know the hole may have not been tapped to the bottom. Might just get lucky with a few extra threads. Otherwise helicoil or timeserting is your only option.
