Help with rocker alignment on Procomp heads
I am having a helluva time trying to obtain proper rocker tip to valve tip alignment on my Bernard Mondello Procomp heads on my 455. I'm using Harland Sharp 5003's (I used them due to the fact that the HS website listed them for Edlebrock heads, and since Procomps are similar to EBrocks..... )
I've tried using Comp cams guide plates for both Olds and Pontiac and still can't get the roller tip to sit in the middle of the exhaust valve tip. The intake side is perfect.
I think I can fudge the guide plates around a bit and get the tips 'close enough' but, how much will the rockers rotate left and right in use when under the proper 'zero lash + 1/2 turn' tension?
I know the guide plates are there to keep the pushrods in line, but if there is any rotation, I could end up with an alignment like the pic. (Not my engine, just a pic I found on the web)
Another option is if anyone makes adjustable guide plates for an Olds 455 head, with 5/16 pushrods and 7/16 stud holes.
The last option is to cut the plates I have, set everything up, then tack weld them.
Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.
