Does replacing or installing longtube headers on a 455 in a '69 442 require loosening motor mounts and lifting engine?

Shouldn't. Are you installing from the bottom of the car?

I've always had to remove motor mounts and lift the engine. Oil filter adapter needs to come off. Starter needs to come off. It helps to remove the steering shaft also. And of course the dipstick tube needs to come out. Don't just wiggle it and break it off. You need to use a slide hammer to extract it.

I always had to lift the engine at least couple of inches to get the headers in. Also depending on the headers, mini starter might be necessary.
