head gasket source

its looking like my 394 needs a new set of head gaskets. does anybody know a good source for them? after a quick search on google the prices varied from $120 for a full engine rebuild kit all the way up to $200 for one gasket!!!!!

obviously i dont want to buy some cheesy chinese made part that will break in 2 days but i also dont want to break the bank either

im planning on putting new gaskets on my manifold, headers, carb, and valve covers as long as im at it

also if this info thread already exists feel free to just link it to me

Find out who the gaskets are made by. If they're a good name brand like FelPro, Victor Reinz or similar, you should be OK. If you get old stock from the 60s even from a small unknown gasket company, even better.

Good head gaskets cost about $75 - $110 each...

For 455, Fel-pro 1155's (.039" thick) are $110 each from Summit but I've found them on Amazon for $70 each and then had Summit match them.

Cometics are really good MLS head gaskets as well, Bill Trovato (btrperformance.com) has quite an assortment of thicknesses. However, they are $115 each and you can't find them any cheaper. You'll have to call Bill to order them if you go that route.

Fel-pro blues are a bit cheaper but I cannot speak to their quality. Good luck!

I would follow the above advice, call BTR Bill, good parts and very smart. quality speaks for its self
