are factory BBO cams interchangeable? (from 68 400 G block to 71 455)
probably a dumb question but i searched & couldn't find any valid info. are factory BBO cams interchangeable? (i'll be taking from 68 400 G block to 71 455) reason i'm asking is i recently purchased a 400 G block/C heads big valves (not running) & a running '71 455 BBO w/ G heads. the 455 was originally a 2 barrel carb but the owner converted it to a 4bbl & mentioned how it really bogs down at full throttle. i have this 400 G block just sitting on my garage floor w/ large C head valves. so would it just be a simple deal of pulling & swapping cams? ideally i'd like to run the C heads on the 455 as well but i'll probably do the cams 1st just to get my sled rolling.
thanks

If you do the swap be sure to use brand new lifters or use the lifters from the "G" block in the order they cam off the cam.
If you swap the cam, it would be a great idea to degree it in.
I'm not sure of the intake lobe center, but degree it in, in the area of 110 to 112 intake lobe center.
Your bog sounds more like a carb problem.

How familiar are you with carbs?
You are aware that the vacuum break has a link to the upper secondary air valve which prevents it from opening too quickly- provided all is working well?
Secondary spring wrap can be tightened. Check the action of the secondary air valves with your finger.
Leaky vacuum hoses- PBrakes, etc.?
Remember that carbs operate on vacuum signals so if the vacuum leaks out... it affects the carb operation.
You don't want to breathe in that vacuum that leaked out, either!
