engine code help

this is the code on my engine is it really a big block 350?

number - 395558 with a bigger sized 2 at the end

That is a small block OLDS. '68 to '76

No, it's a small block 350. Big blocks (400, 425, and 455) have taller deck height and larger main bearings.

What, do you like wearing a "Kick Me" sign? Telling this forum you plan to install a Chubby motor is not a good thing. Get a 455 Olds, it will bolt in.

well i have access to a 454 lol i have never even seen anyone selling a 455 lol where abouts would i get one in the bay area?

You do realize you'll need different motor mounts, accessory brackets, and transmission, right?

I've got several engines up in Medford Oregon, but at the price of gas that may be too far to drive. If I were you I'd post a parts wanted ad here, on realoldspower.com and oldspower.com and 442.com Then I'd start watching craigslist.org for cities near you. Craigslist you can log onto the auto parts section and do a search for Olds and see what pops up. As many people who live in the bay area I'd hope you could find something local. John
